ISGREEN and CNR-ITM have partnered to revolutionize the extraction of phycocyanin, a valuable bioactive ingredient from Spirulina, using clean membrane technology. This advanced process offers numerous benefits, including high-purity extraction, reduced biomass waste, and lower chemical use, while ensuring energy efficiency and workplace safety.
As the demand for natural bioactive ingredients grows, particularly in the nutraceutical and pharmaceutical sectors, ISGREEN’s innovative approach is set to enhance Europe’s competitiveness. The project will be based in Calabria, Italy, bringing not only environmental benefits but also socioeconomic growth to this underdeveloped region.
