TNT: “Through and through” grafting of Ceramic Membranes
A-membranes, a startup leveraging Grignard chemistry to graft ceramic membranes, is pushing the boundaries of filtration technology. In collaboration with VITO and Fraunhofer IKTS, the TNT project aims to enhance the performance of ceramic membranes by grafting TiO2 membranes “through and through”—not just the outer layers but the entire structure. This innovation is expected to significantly boost filtration efficiency, particularly for low-polarity solvents like petroleum derivatives, expanding the economic and technical potential of the technology. Early results show increased flux, with more testing underway to confirm broader applications.
